Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen!
Thanks for your presence to this conference.
From the license issue result of this time, eMobile is the only operator who participates in the WCDMA field as a new player. In Japanese mobile communication industry, especially in broadband times this is also for ten years, the issue of new mobile license. We feel deeply grateful for the fact that we are the unique new operator to get this license. At the times of broadband revolution, we are about to provide new innovative services from next year on. We are very glad to have this opportunity given by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan.
Today we hold this press conference to announce that we choose Huawei, the largest equipment vendor of China and also one of the most renowned equipment vendors of the world, to be our partner.
Chinese equipment vendors are on a turning point, with Huawei as a representative
When mentioning the Chinese corporations in the past, we usually thought about the extremely inexpensive manpower and cheap products. But now, I think that Chinese corporations are being on a turning point, and the most representative company is Huawei, who has the world-class R&D level and is developing the most cutting-edge wireless technologies in the world. At present, almost all the handsets and computers in the world are made in China. If China stops making these products, people all over the world will be put in the dilemma of having no new handsets or computers.
Although many corporations in China are still targeting at expanding the scale and productivity through cheap manpower, many of them have obviously taken a new turning point, and I think Huawei is one of the most representative one.
A leading player in the 3G field, Huawei is the most technically charming company
Why we say Huawei is a leading player in the 3G era?
Firstly, Huawei has the sharpest technical competitiveness. Our company has made comprehensive study of and comparison between dozens of 3G equipment vendors. Meanwhile, Taneno, Yasui, Eric, I, and our team have also spent much time studying the incumbent equipment vendors worldwide. We all find out that, in this IP-based era, the most technically charming company is neither a Japanese vendor nor an American company, but is Huawei Technologies, a Chinese company present today. It is known to global network operators and equipment vendors that Huawei is a company with powerful R&D capability. That is why Huawei interests us.
Luckily, I had several visits to the headquarters of Huawei in Shenzhen about a year ago. Frankly speaking, I have visited nearly all the equipment vendors worldwide and met their leaders. What impresses me most is the R&D center of Huawei. Of the 40,000 employees of Huawei, about a half, or 20,000, are engaged in the R&D sector. Such a mass scale of R&D capability is really unimaginable. The base of Huawei Technologies is also very spectacular, which astonishes me much. If you have time, you can pay a visit to the headquarters of Huawei, and I am sure you will also be surprised. However, their world-class R&D power weighs more to us. In addition, Huawei also has branch R&D centers in the Silicon Valley of America and Bangalore of India, which impresses us greatly.
Especially, Huawei has mastered the core technique in the fields of WCDMA and 3.5G HSDPA, and the world-leading IP technology. Gradually, the enterprises in China are making great transformations to develop into high-tech companies, and Huawei is a representative. Meanwhile, many excellent graduates from famous universities, like Peking University and Tsinghua University, flood into Huawei. In this sense, I think Huawei is gradually developing into a world-class high-tech company.
If we can grow into a leading player in the next-generation communication market, we do not care if this the first time Huawei enters the Japanese market
Actually speaking, it is a little risky for us to choose Huawei as our partner at present. Firstly, the Sino-Japan political relationship is not that well as we expected. Secondly, this is the first time for a Chinese company to enter the Japanese market and to deploy a nation-scale communication network. However, we still perceive that, as both opportunities and challenges exit, if we adopt the world-leading technologies that help us grow into a leading player in the next-generation communication market, we do not care if this is the first time for Huawei to enter the Japanese market, or care if the products and solutions have been applied in America. Consequently, we take the risk and decide to choose Huawei as our partner.
So, we announce that Huawei will deploy the world-leading W-CDMA and HSDPA networks in Sapporo and Sendai.
Huawei is the most appropriate partner in the times of mobile communication broadbandization
Why we choose Huawei?
Firstly, as far as IP technology is concerned, Huawei is the industry-leading player. When it goes to routers, Huawei has a No. 3 market share in the world. In addition, Huawei's 3G HSDPA also plays a world-class role.
Secondly, Huawei is a company of great energy and innovation, as well as willingness to listen to customers' needs, which I appreciate most.
Thirdly, the base stations of Huawei are really excellent. Their base stations have much smaller size, further minimizing space and cost.
In a word, we choose Huawei, a completely new Chinese vendor. In this sense, we think Huawei is the most appropriate partner in the times of mobile communication broadbandization.
